London Life: A New Chapter to the Story

As many of you are now aware, on Saturday I moved to London! All the way from the quiet solitude of Wales to The Big Smoke.

So why did I move and why so suddenly?

After returning from travelling 6 months ago I moved back into my family home in North Wales. Life was comfortable, peaceful and ‘nice’. Yes, nice. And ‘nice’ is nice enough but it isn’t really how I want to live my life. I want drama and excitement and fun and what better place to find it than in London?

I’ve always wanted to move to London. I’m a city girl at heart and although I do love the countryside I felt as though I was too young to settle into the cosy comfort of country living.

I’m always encouraging people to live their dreams and follow their hearts, particularly people who are nervous about travelling, and here I was, ignoring everything my heart was telling me.

I hate to admit it but it was a drunken conversation about following your dreams that made me finally say, ‘Right, I’m doing it. I’m moving to London!’

The next day I woke up with the groggy senese that I’d made a promise I couldn’t keep…and then I remembered. I felt a mixture of anticipation, anxiety and excitement but at the back of my mind I knew it couldn’t really happen. How would I afford to move to London? And I have nothing to move there for!

And then things started falling into place like the pieces of a Tetris game, but it all felt a little too quick and a little too easy.

I was offered somewhere to live with cheap rent that I can actually afford. I found there was a space on the journalism course that I really wanted to do and I’ve applied for some internships so hopefully something will come together on that front.

Sometimes life slots into place so perfectly that you can’t help but wonder if there really is a thing called fate?

So here’s to the next chapter of my life. A chapter as a trainee journalist living in The Big Smoke. Lets hope there will be lots of tales and adventures to come right here on Total Travel Bug.

Honey, most epiphanies happen to people while they are drunk! And it's because THAT'S when we are at our most honest, really! YAY for following your heart, your dreams, and jumping at it so quickly. I am very proud of you! =)
